Day 18 Monday 2nd May

We left Darwin at 8.00 this morning, (the usual time) on our way to Jabiru in Kakadu National Park. We stopped at the Window on the Wetlands Centre. It is a lookout over a wetland area about an hour from Darwin. You could see lakes and swamps. The centre was very well set up with lots of information.

We had morning tea at the Mary River Park where a lot of people had parked their cars and boat trailers. It is barra season. The vegetation has changed again with quite dense forest and lots of water.

The camping area at Jabiru is great and we are camped fairly close to the swimming pool. We had a look around the town this afternoon and it is surprisingly big. Most people seem to work at the Ranger Uranium Mine about 10km nearby. We looked at the Bowali Centre where we paid our fees to enter the National Park. They had an interesting display set up as well.
Distance travelled today 253 kms.
Total distance travelled 3978km.
